It opened in September 1851 to provide a home and therapy for mental health patients - more than 1,500 at its peak (1943). Architect Thomas Henry Wyatt designed the Italianate-style main building, which now contains apartments. Roundway Park (or New Park) was a 750-hectare (1,584-acre) estate in the former parish of Roundway in the centre of the English county of Wiltshire. The estate was about 1+1⁄4 miles (2 km) northeast of the town of Devizes and included a house, stables, gardens, farmland and woodland.
